Internet News and Information Resources
Probably the best news resource on the Middle East is the Hebrew (Israeli) Press followed by the European. Unlike most of the American press --which goes out of its way making excuses on behalf of Israel and portraying it as the victim (e.g. columnists A. M. Rosenthal, Safire, Krauthammer, Peretz, Will, Jacoby) -- the Hebrew press is not always ashamed of bringing out the injustices perpetrated on the Palestinians by Israel.

NEWS & ANALYSIS

  • Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. Monthly. The best analytical resource on the Middle East. However, it is careful to avoid addressing the corruption of the Gulf states and their subservience to the West, which constitutes, in my opinion, an important factor to Arab weakness, as proven by the 1973 oil embargo. This, along with their coverage of the Gulf-War from the Kuwaiti point of view, might indicate some Gulf states funding. In general, it doesn't reflect the anti-war position, unless the war is affecting the Gulf or some Muslim countries. Thus, it supported the "liberation" of Kuwait (hence the virtual annihilation, in the process, of Iraq). Despite the title, its coverage encompasses the Muslim World as well, e.g. Bosnia and Pakistan, and not just Middle East-related issues.

NOAM CHOMSKY

  • Archive. According to the New York Times Book Review: "Judged in terms of the power, range, novelty, and influence of his thought, Noam Chomsky is arguably the most important intellectual alive". Many of his complete books and article can be found in this archive. Addresses U.S. foreign policy of world dominance (evident in South America, Middle East, Indochina, ... etc). When it comes to human rights Chomsky offers NO compromise; no violator is safe from his merciless criticism. Everything he writes is heavily referenced from every corner of the world.
